Here are some photos of the Dinghy’s Beach Bar, from yesterday‘s early morning walk just before 10 AM on Simpson Bay Beach. I also took photos of the menu if anybody is interested. Just like three amigos, they have taco Tuesdays. I also took a photo of the mannequin girls you see in the WebCam from time to time. They have not moved. 😃 There is an upstairs by White Sands Road where you can watch the planes and look across at the terminal building. I took a photo there to show the configuration of the jetways.
It was an early-morning walk from Maho to Simpson Bay. The time stamp on those photos is 9:47 AM. So I would not expect too many people out there at the bar or at the tables. But they were ready to serve.
Headed out the door for a burger there right now. No S/C last few times we've been.

Its ok there but think it should be called "no place special" as every other beach bar on Simpson is just as good or better. Nothing fancy really. Its nice to try the new places just to compare but just to many choices and when we go on our walks not really that many customers. Karakter is opening again soon I suppose and has a better beach and rumor is even another beach bar opening on Simpson Bay. I know a some of the beacon hill folks are very touchy about loud noice at night from past history. It is a nice big beach so that's a plus.
Did you go there and eat and didn't like it or is that an opinion from just walking by?
Just had lunch there, again a group of six of us with two different tabs. Everybody liked their food. No SC on either of our trips and have not heard of such by anybody else lately. If there was any complaint it would be the timing of food coming out of the kitchen with a larger group. Very pleasant staff as well. As to compare to others on Simpson Bay, well noting that there is really only two others at this time it makes it pretty easy to compare. Better than Karakter in their last years, but they are closed. Much better than Marys Boon the last two times we were there. I hear the Boon improved again and I hope they really did. For the price Dinghy is very good, and it is an easy stop with easy parking when staying on the Dutch side. It is not in the league of FBBC, a few on Grand Case and some on Orient, but also much less money. I would say most of the time the beach is certainly better down by Marys Boon, but it is pretty good right now on that end of the beach. There were also lots of chairs and umbrellas to choose from, with space between.
Second time there this trip, over the next two plus weeks I am sure we will be back a couple times.
Sorry we missed you Todd! Tasha and I were just there for a late lunch. Sat back of the bar facing the water. The fresh catch tacos and plantains we had were great, and the thing I like best, the beer is absolutely ice cold.

Its a short walk from our place in Beacon Hill. Yes we have eaten there twice had the tacos and spent and afternoon of the beach, otherwise I would not comment it wasn't special IMO. They for sure added 15d% which is ok, I guess they got so much push back over the 15 to 20% they have changed policy for now. It just all just beach bar food and again that's ok. Judging by the crowd I think for the overall experience you can not beat Mary Boone and they seem to be much busier when we go by than anyplace else as they have been there for at least the past 20 years we have been going to SXM. I know the beach bar was badly managed a couple of years ago but it now has new staff and chefs. It not just another beach bar its also a hotel which Im sure adds to the more people on the beach. My husband had the best tuna tartar he's every had. Buccaneer is also nice property and fun experience but it can be hit or miss as can anyplace on an off day. Karakter again just another beach bar and ok food and not better at all than Mary Boon. IMO of course . Did not meet the owner as you have, Its hard to get a new business going , I am sure with SXM getting more and more tourist they should have enough business through at least high season. We always like to try new things a few times at least and will stop by there again I am sure.
I ate there twice two weeks ago. Loved it ! Very nice parking lot. A new favorite for me.... Did not realize that they had an observation level. Enjoyed the food and the service. The parking was a delight,
For the record, Buccaneer is on Kim Sha Beach. Yes, I'm a stickler for accuracy; I don't apologize for that. And while you're clearly a cheerleader for Mary's Boon, our experiences there, over more than one year, were so bad, that it will be a long time before I go there again, if ever.

That's funny, point made Kim She Beach on Simpson Bay. I would cheerlead for a lot of places, just IMO. I tend to go by popular opinion we walk that beach often and it just seems like judging by the almost always full parking and beach chairs and other comments a lot of people like Mary Boon also. Yes everyone as a opinion and Yes seem to read over and over your not a fan of Mary boon , who know why but I would image because of the former horrible Bar management they had a few years back that got some bad reviews. We had an obnoxious awful waiter a year ago but he’s long gone and we stayed away also for a bit. My husband isn’t as forgiving as I am. Things have definitely changed, new managers and chefs and things constantly evolve in that business. One off day or bad employee can have a big impact on impression and my last visit a month ago was very good. I try not to be to narrow minded to realize that so often I'll go back and will go back to Dinghy bar. I to like the big beach at Dinghy. My thought about Mary Boon was that its just such a pretty property more than a beach bar and they seem to have a very friendly long term staff and the overall experience of spending a day there is better than most. But its been there I think for 4 or 5 decades so I am pretty sure if neither of us ever go back it will do just fine. Buccaneer (on Kim sha beach) is a nice property to and little nicer than most beach bars. IMO
Sorry we missed an opportunity to chat, we had a pretty chatty table so didn't notice much beyond our group. The tacos looked good, I had the special burger which was very good. I had a couple beers on the beach and yes they were nice and cold. Jonesy from Da Watering Hole is bartending some days there, wasn't that day but was the previous trip. Great guy and a lot of fun, besides beach days we will likely go back in the late afternoon just to hang at the bar with him.
Parking is free and the chairs are free. Just buy something and you're good.
By the way......I think all of the Simpson Bay Beach Bars offer free chairs and umbrellas if you are drinking or eating but order enough as that is how they pay the bills. They don't allow outside food or drinks if you are sitting on there chairs....obviously.
It is easy, from Maho just keep going past Sunset Beach Bar and follow the road along the airport road staying as close to the runways that the road will allow. Only right you will take is into the parking lot which every time I have been there has had plenty of parking.
I went to the Dinghy’s Beach Bar for Taco Tuesday. I took a couple of photos of the parking area since people have been asking. The entrance is off White Sands Road in Beacon Hill.
